This portal allows families and our partners to access different applications and services in Reading quickly.
Parents’ Portal:
By creating an account on the portal, you can:
• Apply for a Reception/ Junior or Year 7 Secondary school place for your child
• Apply for a school In-Year admission
• Check eligibility for Free School Meals (portal under development)
• Check eligibility for targeted two-year-old funding
• Contribute to and view your child’s Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan (portal under development)
• Register at a Children’s Centre
• Book a session at a Children’s Centre
• Book onto a Portage group (if you have been invited)
Apply for a Reception/ Junior or Year 7 Secondary school place
You can access the school admissions application by creating an account on the Parent portal. This applies to Reception places for the first time, transfer to Junior School and starting in Year 7 at secondary schools. Full details on school admissions can be found on the school admissions pages of the BFfC website, including admissions guides for parents and full information on all schools.
Apply For a School Place - In-Year Admissions
You can access the school admissions In-Year admissions application by creating an account on the Parent portal. This would apply if your child is without a school place and you wish to apply for a school place in Reading, or if your child is in school elsewhere and you wish to apply for an immediate transfer to a school in Reading.
Free School Meals
This portal is currently under development.
We have linked to the free school meals application on the parent portal homepage. Pupil premium free school meals are available for pupils of parents/carers who receive certain benefits and meet the eligibility criteria. You do not need to have a portal account to apply for this as this is a separate application.
Targeted Two-Year-Old Funding Eligibility Checker
Find out if you are eligible for Targeted two-year-old funding by creating an account and submitting a funding application.
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans
This portal is currently under development.
You will soon be able contribute to and view your Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan by creating an account on the Parent and Young Person’s portal. Once you have created an account and have been given access to this area, you can contribute to Appendix A of your child’s (or your own if you are a young person with your own account) EHC Plan as well as view the plan as it progresses.
Children’s Centres
You can register at a Children’s Centre and book onto their bookable sessions by creating an account on the Parent portal. Reading Children’s Centres offer a range of free sessions to support families with children up to the age of 5 years old.
Portage
If you have been invited to attend a Portage group, after being referred to the service for further support, you can book on to a session by creating an account on the parent portal.
